The Keyhole Race is a test of not only speed, but stopping and turning as
well.
The horse races to a "keyhole" at the other end of the course,
turns 180 degrees to the left or right, and races back across the starting
line.
The Keyhole Race pattern:
In our some areas there is a keyhole shape marked on the ground with flour or
lime. The horse and rider enter the "neck" of the keyhole, turn
within the confines of the circle, and exit the keyhole again, without
touching or leaving the marked boundaries.
In other areas the "neck" of
the keyhole is marked with 2 Cones you must pass through, turn, and
pass through again.
This is the format we use for our show series.
When God created Quarterhorses, He
Painted the good ones
